Lizette’s Spaghetti Tragedy

October 15, 2008

In high school, I thought I cooked the best spaghetti in the world. My dad taught me, and I thought that he cooked the best spaghetti in the world. Then I entered college and started eating spaghetti from other places. Some are worthy embellishments on the floor in the form of vomit, while others deserve to appear magically on my dinner table every night. Suffice it to say, I discovered that I in fact do not cook the best spaghetti in the world.

Do you cook your spaghetti Filipino style? I never imagined that anyone would put sweetened condensed milk in spaghetti sauce….then I married a Filipina. I still prefer the American style.

I had spaghetti for merienda. Not the best spaghetti in the world. But when you’re really hungry sometimes anything you eat becomes the best thing at that moment.

I’m a pasta lover - spaghetti, carbonara, fetuccini, macaroni salad, etc.

I still like the way my mother cooked spaghetti when we’re still very young. I hope my wife won’t read this.
