I Need More Rainy Days

There’s something about rain that makes people think. It might be because the monotonous patter of water drowns all the other human sounds out—the rumble of vehicles on the nearby street, snatches of music from a stray radio, the din of conversation from nearby people—the sound of rain tends to mute these things. Rain also has the power grayscale the world; our attention to colorful and shiny things dissipates along with the gradual loss of light. The rain can turn us partially deaf and blind, allowing us to be more introspective than normal.

 

That’s what I’ve been these past few days.
