Busy Being Snotty

April 9, 2008

Okay, so what have I been up to? A lot. I’ve said somewhere-abouts that I don’t LIKE being busy. If I had a choice, I’d lie around all day eating my favorite brand of aerated white chocolate and getting fat. But I need to earn some monies for my materialistic impulses and the only way to go about it is to, what else, work for it.

Right now, I’m doing part-time freelance writing jobs. I’m currently working on four projects which should pay me a decent amount of money, which of course makes me happy. I also have a biznes yay! I’m selling makeup here, so please do visit and buuuy from me.

Also, I’m starting my OJT at the Senate tomorrow as part of Senator Revilla’s staff. I’m not particularly excited about the whole thing since I’m pretty busy already, but as usual, it’s one of the things I have to hurdle as a bored and discontented Political Science student. Like hey! Just one more year and I’m home free!

Also, a prof of mine gave me a heart-to-heart talk about my non-comformity, identity, philosophy, the sort of stuff you don’t expect to hear from an old and grizzled professor. It brought me to tears…of frustration! I mean don’t get me wrong, I appreciated his concern for my "waste of talent" and "lack of outlets", I really do, but I don’t agree with some of the things he said. Thing is a scary prof came in and sat beside him, reading a tabloid, and I’m not that stupid to get in an embarrassing argument. This particular prof is like an institution, not only in UP Manila but also in UP Diliman so he’s scurry. I’m not ready to argue with him. I need my wits about me yah?

Prof #1: So are you an animal? Are your desires, wants, needs the only things you care about?

Me: Of course not. What makes humans humans?

Prof #1: No one can really tell you definitely. *Insert thing about mass movements, helping people* What should you aim for besides these things?

Me: Why, self-actualization!

Prof #2: *grunts*

Me: *trembles*

(At this point Scary Prof #3 poked his head through the open door. This prof and I have been exchanging emails about fairness vs freedom and individualism, in general, the past week. What a coincidence.)

Prof #3: Hi sir.

Me: *yelps internally* Sir labas na po ako baka may pag-uusapan ako.

Prof #1: Sige. Next time.

Gaaahh, Iknoryt?  So yeah, I’m busy being snotty.
