Dear Ivan, My Biggest Fan (and plagiarist)

I would like to say that I was born to write like this, but I’m not—it took me more than half a thousand books, hundreds of blogs, and tons of newspaper/magazine articles, among other things. I consumed all these in a span of twenty years. I haven’t stopped of course; I’m still trying to improve myself by reading anything I can get my hands on and observing anything worth the effort. It’s a process that will never end so long as I feel the urge to let the world know what I think.

 

And then I find out that someone is plagiarizing me.  The person’s name is Ivan Espineda, whose blog can be found at http://ravenfall.multiply.com. You won’t be able to read the blog since it’s for friends only, so you would have to settle for screen shots.


 

I wrote the posts Liz’s Movie—In Music on March 7 and Ang Problema Natin on March 5. Ivan Espineda posted Ivan’s Movie—In Music on March 10 and Ang Problema Natin on March 9.  until now. The title of the Multiply blog—Behind the Shrubbery—has even been blatantly filched from my blog. He has been doing this since May 2007

 

Of course I am indignant. But I am aware that anything I write anywhere in the Internet can easily be plagiarized by anybody who knows what the holy words CTRL+C and CTRL+V stand for. It’s a risk any content publisher takes and I am aware of taking that risk. If I may be so arrogant—is this pathetic little twerp the only one stealing my content and proclaiming it as his? My, there should be more or my time isn’t worth anything here. Anyway.

 

It’s been a year of stealing my works, Ivan. How does it feel whenever someone comments on the things I’ve written? I’ve read some of the comments by your friends and that’s when I started feeling sorry for you. You did not have the mind to write what I wrote. You also don’t have the mind to understand it so you couldn’t even defend it or explain it. If you still want to go on copy-pasting the content of my blog, be my guest. I mean, if it makes you happy right? But that’s all you can do—copy-paste—and the stark reality of it is that you can’t write shit like mine and you never can. I can, when I want to and when I need to.

 

Ivan, I can think. I can write. You can’t.  That makes all the difference, doesn’t it?

I haven’t been to this part of the woods in months…
Good news is I managed to get the RSS feed to your blog up and running.

Highlights: The valentine video cracked me up! Plus all the posts about make-up and the fact that you’re selling them reminds me of my little sister.

I’m still loving the honesty though… Good times.

Out of curiosity do your backblogs/tagboards have him as a commenter?

Maybe he’s a pseudo-stalker!

By the way, I know that there is a script of some sort that prevents users from right-clicking a webpage, maybe you’d want to look into that?

Thanks for the offer. Seriously, I’d consider that. Not wearing make-up, but buying them, for the girlfriend and all.

Not for me is what I mean. I’m not saying guys shouldn’t wear make-up but… I don’t wear make-up, ok? It’s for the girlfriend.

Wow. You have plagiarist. Having one is like a badge of honor (you’re good enough to be plagiarized) and also something to be mad about (you’re being plagiarized).

Why is it that I only get to know about these things when the a-hole’s site is shut down?

Hello. I dunno if you remember me, but I used to read your blog. I’m now back with i.ph and I’m trying to get ahold of those blogs I used to read.

Too bad Ivan’s blog was deleted already when I checked it out. Oh well, only shows how brilliant a writer you are. :)
