When Talk Is Cheap

I value conversation. It might be the intensely focused sort or the pointless kind so long as it's fulfilling. How do I know when a conversation is fulfilling? When my heart beats faster and I move only minimally, then I am probably caught up. Fortunately, this particular high is easy to find. I try to surround myself with interesting people as often as possible so I wouldn't spasm with withdrawal.

 

Like all things, however, conversation dries up. What to do when this happens? Laugh.

 

I think I've mentioned somewhere here that Marco is an intellectual bully. He's also this serious musician guy who surrounds himself with gadgets and plasters his face in front of his laptop every waking moment. Even though he loves me and I am (he says) the most important thing in his life, you can only imagine how difficult it is to take him away from his other passions—his music, his digital art, and his gadgets. It's like trying to unstuck a sticker from paper without ruining the sticker's adhesive.

 

Nonetheless, he can be pretty funny at times.

 

Liz: (for some reason starts to sing) Doe a deer, a female deer, ray a cup of golden sun!

Marco: (lols meanly) It's a pocket full of sun, not a cup of golden sun!

Liz: You're wrong. You are so wrong.

Marco: But "a cup of golden sun" doesn't make any sense!

Liz: Neither does "a pocket full of sun", duh. it makes less sense that "a cup of golden sun"!

Marco: (lols meanly) It doesn't.

Liz:  Okay get the PSP and check out the internets. How much do you bet? Your soul?

Marco: (ignores Liz) What do I type in Google?  "Doe a deer"?

Liz: No, type "doe a deer a female deer".

Marco: (lols some more) You don't even know the title!

Liz: So? (looks intently at the screen)

Screen: Doe a deer, a female deer, ray a drop of golden sun…

Liz: HAH! just one wrong word!

Marco: (pwnt)

minsan masaya din na tumawa na lang dahil sa sobrang may kwenta ng usapan:

A: “You’re my flower”

B: “Wow thank you!”

C (interrupts): “Eh, diba flower parang vegetable yan?”

A (nervous laughter): “Ahahaha!”
