When The Cosmos Conspire

June 5, 2007

One of the things I dislike about life is when things start to pile up in one day. I know this is a common phenomenon for most people, but for me, nah. I live a rather boring, nondescript existence. Important events usually happen evenly spaced from each other that I rarely encounter the hassle of juggling things around just so they would fit in places they should.

Today is another one of those days. Ugh. It felt like I spent half of it worrying whether I'll meet the schedule I made for myself. The order for this day: enrollment in Faura in the morning, job briefing in Makati (it definitely doesn't feel like it but I simply don't know what to call it) for the afternoon and despedida in Cavite for the evening. Sounds quite simple really, but enrollment in UP sucks balls. It sucks assholes when you're wearing white mules which haven't been broken in yet. Like I said, ugh.

Murderous mules

Enrollment took approximately six hours, from 10.30 to 3.30 am. Those six hours I spent sitting on the floor, walking, and running to and fro the length of Faura. Gods I miss that place. I haven't set foot in it ever since last semester ended. Come to think of it, I haven't seen my girl friends about the same length of time. I miss everyone, I missed Sushi-ya. I even missed the squalid splendor of Taft Avenue godammit. Nevermind that the sun melted most of my make-up off by the end of the day and left me looking like a sweaty, patchy disaster. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I miss school. As much as it can be missed, anyway.

blanc

Next stop, Makati. We met Marco's client, Jay Amante. He owns a cool art gallery called Blanc along H.V. dela Costa Street. Since Marco is designing the website for the gallery, he needs someone who will write introductions, profiles, and what-not for the site. That would be me. Besides that, I might be writing some promotional material for the upcoming shows. Cool eh? I'm not really artsy fartsy or anything and the last art show I've been to was like, last year, but I got 1.25 in Humanities I (Art, Man and Society) if it helps any. I think I could wing this. What the hell, I will.

 Small talk

Tired and shit, Marco and I went to his office near the gallery to get his stuff. His officemates are crazy by the way, and I rather like them. I have a penchant for half-mad people. Like Marco. Like myself.  Before getting in a cab, we grabbed some sammiches from Oliver's (note: sometimes I think Marco likes sammiches more than he likes me but well, I have the same fervor for Diet Coke so I guess it's fair) then went straight to the Mall of Asia where we ride a van back to Cavite.

So, the despedida. Not much to say about it except that my kid cousins were all over my grandparent's place, practically next door. As usual, some of them don't remember who I am. Ah well.  I was too tired to socialize and too fat to eat so I just hung around for a while then walked home to blog about my day. By the way, I love this picture:

And I love the guy in it, too.

Oh before anything else, here's another song, this time a ripoff from Corrine Bailey Rae. There are some missed parts because it's impromptu so there. Me on vocals, Marco on geetar.

First, I like your banner…somewhat abstract and straight!

Life is really like that gurl! If you win it, improve more and if you fail, stand up and head straight. Life is a game of luck!

look at those old records! :)

Galeng ng tandem niyo ni marco. Buti na yun, less work for marco and maybe he’ll return the favor to you.

Those shoes in the University of Pila is DEADLY. Haha. Back then, I’d only wear well worn rubber shoes for registration and getting classcards. -_-

My best enrolment experience was when I was a registration assistant and all the courses I enlisted in, I got. :D The rest of the time, I stayed in an airconditioned room with close friends four days in the week to enlist people to their classes.

This is evil, but I was actually amused by the anxiety many people had about enlistment. Amused because I didn’t go through it that semester. The semesters before, not so amused. LOL!

albertology: i don’t really much believe in luck. i think the kind of life we lead depends on what we can do and what we stand for. luck as a variable is just a matter of perception. what i meant to say is, thanks for visiting! perstaym ah!

rian: thanks! and it’s not really a favor haha. i get paid for it.

celle: hay nako sinabi mo pa. bad trip enrollment kahit kailan! ang konti pa ng tao nung tuesday, malamang yung iba lahat magsisiksikan sa late reg. oh well.

One of the things I don’t miss about UP life is enrollment. A lot of the other stuff was good, though. :)

wow! great site, ang daming laman! :)
i wonder when the reg com in UP will implement a better system. a lot of students are complaining about it. but then alot of alumni/ae are also missing it. haha. I guess it goes with the UPean culture. oh well

hey, i’ll link you up, if thats okay! :)

Posted by lemony at June 7, 2007, 2:25 pm

dante: yeah, a lot of things were good. UP is a fun place to be really.

lemony: i just don’t get why there are so many procedures when it comes to enrollment. can’t people just line up and pay, fix everything through CRS? but noooo. you line up to fix the schedule/ESF, then to advising, then to paying the student fund, then to checking, then to assessment, then to the actually payment of the tuition fee. haay. i guess these procedures are necessary, but there MUST be some ways to combine them.

anyways, sure, link me up! i’ve linked you already. :)
