The Rains Are Back

May 27, 2007

Lately, afternoon showers are all the rage. They would start promptly by four to six, shortly before, or shortly after, sunset. They would turn the pavement into glistening canvasses lit up by twinkling headlights, blurred and glassy. Sometimes the temperature would remain muggy and the clinging heat of the day would rise up like miasma from the asphalt. This sucks. Sometimes too the air would turn cold and the dampness would creep through jackets, umbrellas, and uncovered heads. This is often not the case though. This sucks too.

Another one of the sucky things in life is waiting for a taxi along F. Ortigas Jr. (or Fortigas Junior as my boss fondly calls it) in weather such as this. Everybody suddenly gets the same idea and a taxi shortage assaults the metro. You'd be left standing in the rain, cold and damp (or sticky and hot AND damp) eyeing approaching white cars and hailing anything that looks suspiciously like a taxi because you are too lazy to trudge to the MRT station. Or too tired.

One other sucky thing is the fact that I’m gaining weight again. Working in Ortigas and being in love does not sit well with my plans to remain 102 pounds; go figure out why. My lifestyle has been in complete overhaul since I started working and it was overhauled even further when I met him, changing my routine, my diet, my outfits, my self. But yeah the thing that’s of paramount importance here is the fact that I’ve become fat again. I don’t want to go back to a diet of leaves and water but if the pounds start to go out of hand I guess I shall have no choice. Fuck.

One last thing that sucks. Ex-girlfriends. If they break up with you it would be reasonable to expect that you can go ahead with your life and find someone else who might make you happier. It would be cool if they just dug a hole in the earth somewhere for themselves and shut up like, I dunno, mongeese (yeah I know the plural of ‘mongoose’ is ‘mongooses’ but also yeah, fuck you). Because mongeese don’t talk or make a sound as far as my infinite knowledge encompasses. It would be cooler, however, if they weren’t pisshit crazy and seriously need medical attention. Hell yes, that would indeed be cool.

Oh oh oh! Another thing that sucks. There are times when I deeply wish that I am joking. That is all.

Rains are back signaling the end of summer. I hope the MMDA would do their jobs to avoid flooding (this really sucks) or at least to minimize them.

What is this? An honest argument?

(You can choose not to mind me, but I honestly saying something significant here. Or guessing.)

ugh. 10 pm along J.Vargas sucks. what we do is that we walk all the way to the Podium or Banco de Oro or Shang. It’s easier to get a ride there. I’d rather walk than stand in a fucking line.

Labo nga eh. Tuwing umaga ang init tapos ‘pag gabi na umuulan.

akira: why thank you. ;)

tom: yeah, flooding sucks. last year we were flooded five feet inside the house. no kidding.

niko: as usual you’re delightfully confusing.

saturn: it was, but then we looked around.

keysi: hmm, good idea. i shall try it.

laarni: gulo nga eh. nakakainis, lalo na pag wala kang dalang payong. medyo malupit ang ulan sa nakaraang araw.

I love the slow drizzle.Ü And the stormy rain too. It muffles the moans and sounds that should not be heard by grown ups. heehee

aside from the seemingly taxi shortage during the rains, fuckin’ drivers are picky with passengers. stupid drivers.
